Alabama Governor Kay Ivey Signs Marshall James Walton Highway Safety Act

Mobile Section AlabamaAGC  member John G. Walton and his wife Kathy were on hand as Governor Ivey signed the Marshall James Walton Highway Safety Act.

The Marshall James Walton Highway Safety Act  (ACT 2017-336)  creates the crime of vehicular homicide.
This Act is a fitting memorial to Johnny & Kathy’s son Marshall Walton who died in a work zone accident in 2015.

On behalf of AGC, MCRBA, BCRBA and the Walton family, many thanks are   extended to all who made repeated phone calls and sent numerous  emails to   Legislators that helped get this Legislation passed.

Special appreciation to Alabama Senator Trip Pittman, Representative Chris Pringle  and  AlabamaAGC’s Lobbyist Chris Williams for their hard work getting this bill passed.

With even more traffic on the roads as the summer travel season begins, AGC’s message to every motorist is this:  “When you see construction signs and orange barrels, take your foot off the gas, get off the phone and  keep your eyes on the road, these actions may save a life!”
