FREE Training – Mobile ALDOT Office January 23rd

ACPA’s P.I.P.E. Program

Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, & Tuscaloosa Areas

Reminder to get folks signed up for this FREE training later this month and early February. So far, we have 14 signed up in Mobile, 1 in Tuscaloosa, and 10 in Madison, but most of these are ALDOT inspectors. Let’s make this most of this chance to train our personnel in proper pipe installation techniques. Again, it’s free, lunch is provided, and it is the time of year that weather is not always conducive for progressive work.

SIGN UP this week. Remaining slots will be given to AGC for their members to fill.

The Association has partnered with ACPA and ALDOT for upcoming training in January and February targeted for pipe crews, especially operations’ supervisors, foremen, and laborers/operators responsible for installation as well as field inspectors. This training is offered about every 3 years, and ACPA started this class years ago when I was in the Construction Bureau to ensure that the ever-changing field personnel understand proper installation techniques to ensure the long-range performance of concrete pipe. We worked with them for this year’s training trying to get this completed during these slower construction months so as to minimize the impact to your project work and maximize participation. Hence, let’s make the most of this opportunity for our crews

News is even better. There is no cost for this training and lunch and handouts will be provided.

All the pertinent details for the classes as well as registration links are outlined below. I realize this is Christmas week, and the next two weeks are crammed full whether for company events or annual shutdowns, but let’s have our slots filled by COB on Friday, January 5, 2024. Any remaining slots will be allocated to ALDOT inspectors and AGC members.

The American Concrete Pipe Association’s P.I.P.E. Program is designed to teach pipe installation best practices and help contractors, installers, and field inspectors understand, implement, and inspect their concrete pipe installations. The program is an interactive day-long course, led by trained ACPA staff and members, that teaches participants the proper way to install concrete pipe. This training is being hosted in conjunction with the Alabama Road Builders Association and the Alabama Department of Transportation.

At each location listed below, we will have at least 25 seats allocated to contractor personnel.  More may be available depending on ALDOT inspector registration and size of the specific classroom.

To register your personnel, please click on the link below and follow the instructions on the website. Also, a flyer and agenda for the events are attached.
