Millie has been licking her chops to get her coloring book finished and we are excited to announce they have arrived (all 16 boxes).
The future of work zone safety depends on the continuous education of everyone including children
so it was natural for AlabamaAGC to publish a coloring book titled “Lessons from Millie, You Play a Role in Work Zone Safety.”
Millie, along with her handler Morris King with Vulcan Materials who also serves as AlabamaAGC’s 2023 Associate President, will be on the road distributing the coloring books to several classrooms throughout Alabama educating children on how to identify work zones and the dangers of distracted driving – why children you may ask, because there is no better backseat driver than a child pointing out work zones.
Today, May 9th, Millie & Mo along with Jenifer Eubanks with ALDOT made the first presentation to over 200 students at Hutchens Elementary School in West Mobile. The event was a huge success and the children loved Millie and her coloring book. As one of teachers pointed out as we left – “What a powerful way to educate children at such a young age, we may never know how many lives will be saved because of Millie’s Lesson.”
Be on the lookout for Millie & Mo at an elementary school near You. They will be making presentations for the remainder of this school year and on into next year.
Appreciation to all of our sponsors for their support for this project. Special appreciation to Morris King and of course Millie, Jen Eubanks with ALDOT, the Mobile Section, AGC Work Zone Safety Committee, and Ricky Nobile Cartoons.
